Privacy Policy
This policy explains how the Gazla mobile app ("Gazla", "we") collects, uses, stores and protects your personal data. Every data flow described here has been checked against the app's own code. The data controller under Turkish data-protection law (KVKK, Law No. 6698) is Gazla.
1. Data We Collect
a) Account information
- Email, password and an optional display name to create and sign in to an account. The password is stored on the server in an irreversible form and is not kept on the device.
- Guest use: without an account, the server issues an identity with no email attached and your records are stored against it.
b) Vehicles and records
- Vehicle: make, model, year, fuel type, tank size, odometer, optional plate, insurance and inspection expiry dates.
- Records: fill-ups (date, litres, amount, odometer, station), expenses, maintenance and trips — written to the phone first, then synced to your account.
c) Location
Location is read in four places, only when you use that feature:
- Trip recording: when you start a trip, or confirm a "Drive detected" prompt, your location, speed and altitude are read every few seconds until the trip ends, with a visible "Recording your drive" notification. A simplified route (up to 600 points), start and end points, distance, duration and summary figures are saved and synced to your account on Gazla's server. Deleting a trip deletes its route.
- Trip map: map images are requested from OpenStreetMap's tile server, which receives the map area viewed and your IP address.
- Nearby stations: your current coordinates are sent as a query to OpenStreetMap's Overpass service; not to Gazla's server, and not stored.
- Province: on first launch your location is read once and your province is worked out on your phone from built-in borders. It is not sent anywhere; only the province name is saved.
d) Motion and Bluetooth — on the phone only
- The phone's activity type ("in vehicle", "walking") is read on the device to notice a drive; it is not stored or sent.
- Car Bluetooth (Android, optional): if you pair a vehicle with the car's Bluetooth, only the name and address of the currently connected audio device are read; no scanning. The pairing stays on your phone.
e) Receipt photos
The photo never leaves your phone: text is recognised on-device (Google ML Kit) and the temporary copy is deleted immediately.
f) Community content
Posts, comments and likes in the driver feed are visible to other users.
g) Technical data
- Your operating system ("android" or "ios") is sent when you sign in;
gazla.iokeeps request logs (IP address, time, path) for security and debugging. - The app contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting software, reads no advertising or device identifier, and sends no push token — notifications are generated on the phone.
h) Backup, reports and sharing
"Upload to my account" writes your records, including trips, to your account as one compressed file. "Create backup file" builds the file on your phone and shares it where you choose — Gazla does not receive it. PDF reports and trip images are built on your phone.
2. How We Use It
To record and calculate your fuel use, expenses and trips; show your province's pump price and price-change alerts; produce maintenance, insurance and inspection reminders; sync and back up your records; run the community feature and prevent abuse; and keep the service secure. Your data is not used for advertising and is not sold.
3. Location Permission and Background Operation
There is no continuous background tracking: location is read only while a trip is being recorded and stops when it ends. Android does not ask for background location — recording uses a foreground service with a visible notification. On iOS you may be asked for "Always" so a trip keeps recording with the screen off; even then location is read only during a recording and the blue indicator is shown. You can turn any permission off in phone settings; the rest of the app keeps working.
4. Services We Use
- Hostinger: hosting of the
gazla.ioservers and database. - OpenStreetMap Foundation: trip-map tiles and nearby stations (Overpass) — their privacy policy applies.
- Google ML Kit: on-device receipt text recognition; the photo is not sent to Google, ML Kit may send its own usage statistics.
- Google Maps: drawing the nearby-stations map (when enabled).
We do not use Firebase, Google Analytics, Crashlytics or any other analytics or advertising service in the app. Requests to OpenStreetMap and Google are processed on servers outside Turkey.
5. Retention and Deletion
We keep your data while your account exists; deleting a single record deletes it. To delete your account: in the app, Profile › gear › Settings › Delete account — or, without the app, see gazla.io/delete-account. Your account is closed immediately and its records (vehicles, fill-ups, expenses, maintenance, trips and routes, account backup, feed content) are permanently deleted within 30 days, subject to legal retention duties.
6. Your Rights
Under KVKK (and GDPR where applicable) you can ask to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your data and to learn who it is shared with. You can take a copy of your records yourself: Settings › Backup › Create backup file. For other requests write to info@gazla.io; we answer within 30 days.
7. Children
Gazla is not directed at users under 18 and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn we have, we delete it promptly.
8. Changes and Contact
If this policy changes, the current version is published on this page with a new date; material changes are announced in the app. Questions: info@gazla.io.
